Cosmetic Dentistry

One of the first things most people see when they look at you is your smile. We know that smiles and teeth have become more and more important and most people want to do all they can to repair any areas of their teeth that they don’t like. Michael G. Dab, DDS can make significant changes to the look of your teeth with some of the following procedures.

Porcelain Crowns: You can use a crown for many different reasons including a tooth that has been broken, a tooth that has had a large cavity removed or for severe tooth decay. The tooth is filed down to a smaller size so that a porcelain crown can be attached and cover the existing tooth. The first of the two appointments will be for prepping the tooth and attaching a temporary crown while the permanent one is being made. The permanent crown will be attached at a later date and will be made specially to match the teeth that are already in your mouth.

Inlays: One way to repair a tooth that has had a large cavity of decay is to use an inlay. This is a great way to salvage a tooth that does not quite need a crown. The inlay is manufactured and attached to the remaining healthy part of your tooth by your dental professional. This procedure will require two appointments in order to prepare the tooth and then have the permanent inlay manufactured and cemented to the tooth.

Onlays: This is the same type of material that an inlay is made from but is what many people will consider a partial crown. This is a great option for a tooth that has a large amount of decay but not enough that a standard crown in necessary. The two appointments needed for this procedure will be one for the preparation of the tooth and the second to cement the onlay to the tooth.

Dental Implants: If you have a larger area of your mouth that may be missing some of the permanent teeth, you may be in need of a dental implant. The dental implant is a more intense procedure because you will have artificial roots placed in the gums and attached to the jaw bone during a surgery. Dental implants are a great alternative to dentures or partial dentures. They are a permanent fixture and look very natural.

Porcelain Veneers: A porcelain veneer is usually used because someone is not happy with the shape or color of their teeth. The veneer is a thin tooth shaped piece of porcelain that is made custom for each tooth. The veneer is attached to the natural tooth and bonded to it by a professional dentist. Your teeth will be buffed down slightly to allow for the new veneer to be attached. You will get to choose the look and color of your new veneers and enjoy a beautiful new smile.

Fixed Dental Bridges: A bridge is a wonderful way to fill in a space between some anchoring teeth with a porcelain tooth that is made just for that space. The bridge is attached to the two teeth on opposite sides of the missing tooth with a crown and in between the porcelain tooth will be placed. The great part about a bridge is that you can have your smile looking natural again without any gaps.

Tooth Whitening: This is a great technique that more and more people are using. Having a way to get your teeth a few shades whiter to help with the look of your smile and your confidence is worth it. The dental procedure is noninvasive and has no pain or discomfort involved. This procedure will last some time but will need a follow up to touch up on the color over time.
